Dr. Rajesh Pillai

Dr Rajesh Pillai is currently serving as the Principal as well as Professor and Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, PMS College of Dental Science and Research, Thiruvananthapuram. He is a dynamic individual with the foresight and vision to carry our institution to great heights.
He obtained his BDS degree from the A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore in 1994 and MDS degree from the College of Dental Surgery, Manipal in 1997.
He began his career in academics as Senior lecturer, Reader and Associate Professor at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics in Yenepoya Dental College, Mangalore from 1997 to the year 2005.
Dr Rajesh Pillai joined the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics as Professor at PMS College of Dental Science and Research in October 2005. In the year 2007, he acquired the role of the Head of the Department.
In 2009, he was appointed as the Vice Principal of our institution and from May 2018 onwards, and has been working as the Director of PG Studies till date. He completed his Diploma in Laser Dentistry from the University of Genova in the year 2013. He was appointed as the Principal of PMS College of Dental Science and Research in October 2021.
He has served as the Secretary of Conservative and Endodontic Society, Kerala in the year 2012 to 2016. He was the President of Conservative and Endodontic Society of Kerala (CAESOK) in the year 2019 to 2021.
Dr Rajesh Pillai has lectured at various International, National and State wide PG Conferences and Conventions. He is widely published in academic literature and has various International and National publications to his credit.
He has co-authored two textbooks, the Textbook of Operative Dentistry and Essentials of Endodontics by Vimal K Sikri. He has been working as the Associate Editor of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontic Journal (CDJ) from 2014 onwards. He is a member of the National Reviewer Panel of the prestigious Journal of Conservative Dentistry (JCD) and is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Dentistry.
He has been a highly sought after speaker for Post Graduate Orientation Programs like Finish Line, Master Class and Quest. He has been a key resource person in association with European Medical Laser Association (EMLA). He has chaired a multitude of scientific deliberations in the International Federation of Endodontic Association (IFEA)’s World Endodontic Congress held in Chennai in 2020 and 2021. He heads the Ethical Committee of Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences, Kulasekharam since the year 2023.
